TRAINING AND CURRICULUM SPECIALIST NF4

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join their team as a Training and Curriculum Specialist. The role involves providing comprehensive training programs for Child and Youth Program professionals and implementing developmentally appropriate curricula to support children's growth and school readiness.

Responsibilities

Orients new CYP professionals to the child and youth system and provides basic information that can be applied in all program settings
Coordinates with CYP Directors to establish training plans and a schedule for professional training
Ensures CYP training opportunities include management, support, and direct care professionals
Provides training that is appropriate for, and tailored to, the age group of the children and youth with whom the CYP professionals' work
Executes the DoD Standardized Module Training Program, provides initial orientation, ongoing annual training and ensures training is available to support career progression
Incumbent arranges for subject matter experts to conduct/support specialized training
Ensures completion and documentation of required training
Works with CYP professionals to ensure modules are completed
Identifies additional training needs
Maintains training records and supports Individual Development Plans
Prepares training status reports and recommendations to supervisors and notifies CYP Directors of employees' and providers' training status and performance
Develops programs that encourage and support the pursuit of continuing higher education by documenting requirements for completion of the Child Development Associate or the Military School-Age Credential
Provides information, assistance and guidance to CYP professionals seeking college-level classes to meet professional goals
Assists FCC Director and FCC Monitor(s) in the accreditation process for providers
Develops a working relationship with local colleges, universities and professional organizations and advises employees/providers about continuing avenues of professional development
Participates in the CYP Inclusion Action Team meetings as required
Coordinates staff training that includes reference to food and environmental allergies or physical disabilities, and policies and procedures on special needs accommodations
Maintains supporting documentation on participants with special needs and ensures proper attention is provided

Required

A 4-year degree in Early Childhood Education or Child/Youth Development or a related field such as Elementary Education, Special Education, Family and Consumer Science (Early Childhood emphasis) AND 3 years of full-time experience working with children and/or youth
A combination of education (at least 24 semester hours) and experience, or additional course work, that that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above AND 3 years of full-time experience working with children and/or youth
Knowledge of early childhood or youth education principles, concepts, and techniques to develop, interpret, monitor, and evaluate the execution of curriculum and age-appropriate activities
Knowledge of adult learning techniques and strategies and experience training adult learners
Ability to support DoD certification, accreditation, and staff credentialing (Child Development Associate (CDA), Associate of Arts (AA) Degree) by ensuring that required training is administered and successfully accomplished to meet statutory and program requirements
Must have the ability to supervise and provide guidance and leadership to employees and providers
Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations including evacuations, child illness, and physical and emotional disorders
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills
Satisfactorily complete all background checks in accordance with DoD and Marine Corps policy for employees who provide childcare services
Must pass a pre-employment physical and annual physical, thereafter, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease
Must complete all DoD training requirements within the specified time including orientation, initial and annual ongoing training requirements, and required certifications, if any
Must maintain current food handlers, CPR and First Aid certifications
May be required to obtain a government driver's license
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills
