Architect and Design Sales Representative

Pittsburgh Paints Company is currently seeking an Architect and Design Sales Representative for our New York/New Jersey market. This role focuses on establishing and growing architectural specifications through commercial paint products while building strong relationships with architects, designers, and contractors.

Responsibilities

Focus is primarily on new construction, but will include existing building renovations as a mix
Project tracking and planning, communicating plan, allocating tasks and setting milestones is key
Call on firms who influence specifications for commercial businesses, building/office space, retail, hotels, resorts etc
Build and develop relationships with firms/customers to determine if the relationship with PPC. Once relationship is status is established, you will further use presentations to influence the project specification as an approved manufacturer
This role will address both product systems on the technical side and the color schedules on the design side, and must possess the higher-level understanding of complexity and proficiency of both
Role is expected to hold technical paint system conversations with specification writers and discuss color schemes with interior designers

Required

5 years minimum experience in outside sales required
Experienced influencing Architectural Specifications
Communication skillset must embody customer centric communication in person, virtual and verbal
Strong presentation skills and proficiency in front of various audiences is a must
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, and web based applications (Construct Connect, BSD, AVITRU, BIM/REVIT), as well as CRM experience
Excellent organizational and project management tracking skills
Must understand the relationship between Owner, Architect, Designer, General Contractor, and Painter
This role requires consistent travel within the territory and at minimum 2 overnight stays per week to ensure long sales cycles are converted into sales. Must possess a valid Driver's License
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred

Preference is given to subject matter specialists in AIA MasterFormat and CSI/CDC Three Part Format, IIDA or ASID
A member of industry associations are encouraged; existing architect and interior design contacts will be given additional preference
