Reporting and Response Coordinator and Senior Title IX Officer
Brown University is seeking a Reporting and Response Coordinator and Senior Title IX Officer to ensure compliance with federal and state civil rights laws. Responsibilities
Overseeing, managing and responding to reports of protected class discrimination and harassment, including sexual and gender-based misconduct
Serving as the primary recipient of all reports and complaints and initial contact person
Managing all resolution processes and making initial recommendations as well as evaluating and responding to reports
Serving as the primary entry point for University community members to report or seek information on policies related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct
Determining and implementing supportive measures on behalf of the Director of Investigations and Title IX Coordinator
Developing informational materials and implementing training programs for faculty, staff, and students on reporting and adjudication processes
Qualification
Required
Master's degree from an accredited institution in a field related to the primary duties and responsibilities of the position plus one (1) to three (3) years of related experience in conducting intake of matters, overseeing the progress of matters, setting and meeting deadlines, and public speaking in a higher education, non-profit or other relevant setting
An equivalent combination of experience and education may be used to evaluate candidates who do not expressly meet the minimum qualifications listed above
In depth knowledge of the federal and state laws pertaining to gender-based discrimination and harassment and sexual misconduct, as they apply to colleges and universities including Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Title IX of the Educational Amendments Act of 1972 (Title IX), the Jeanne Clery Act of 1990 (Clery Act), the Violence Against Women Act of 1994 (VAWA), all as amended where applicable, and other federal and state laws, regulations and court decisions
Demonstrated ability to apply above educational civil rights laws to individual reports and complaints, often identifying and applying general principles of those laws to any given situation
Ability to quickly and competently assess and respond to situations to determine the appropriate response
Demonstrated experience and ability in managing confidential information and independently and efficiently managing a significant caseload
Preferred
At least two years of related experience in higher education non-discrimination compliance
Working knowledge of trauma-informed practices
Working knowledge of typical university policies and procedures related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct
Knowledge of contemporary issues surrounding discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct in the university setting
Knowledge of the Maxient software
