Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities
Lead mechanical design efforts for New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring robust performance in harsh environments
Define and validate mechanical and thermal requirements in collaboration with cross-functional teams and customers
Design and develop mechanical solutions including enclosures, heat sinks, thermal interfaces, and rugged packaging
Perform thermal simulations (CFD) and structural analysis (FEA) using tools like FloTHERM, SolidWorks Simulation, or equivalent
Conduct shock, vibration, and thermal testing to validate and verify product performance
Create detailed CAD models and drawing packages using SolidWorks or similar CAD Packages, applying GD&T standards
Support prototype builds, first article inspections, and environmental testing
Provide technical oversight, including feasibility reviews, cost/schedule impact assessments, and lifecycle support
Collaborate with global engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure design consistency and knowledge sharing
Work closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers to align design goals and performance expectations
Interface with vendors for manufacturing quotes and apply DFM/DFA principles
Ensure compliance with ANSI/VITA, MIL-STD, and other relevant industry standards
Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and IP development across international sites
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
4–7+ years of mechanical design experience, ideally in rugged or aerospace environments. Any relevant internship will also contribute to this period
Expertise in thermal and structural analysis, ruggedized packaging, and advanced cooling techniques (including airflow-through and liquid cooling)
Strong skills in CAD modeling, simulation tools, DFM/DFA, and compliance with industry standards
Excellent teamwork, communication, and the ability to collaborate effectively across global, cross-functional teams

Regularly required to sit or stand, walk, bend, and reach with hands and arms
Regular use of hands/fingers for handling, holding, grasping, and typing on a computer keyboard
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs
Preferred
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo) and thermal/structural simulation tools
Strong understanding of materials science, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics
Experience/ Familiarity with airflow-through and liquid cooling desirable
Familiarity with shock, vibration, and thermal testing methods
Working knowledge of GD&T, PDM systems (SolidWorks PDM Professional), and manufacturing processes
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional, geographically distributed teams
Certifications such as ASME GDTP, CSWP, or equivalent
Experience in ruggedized embedded computing, advanced electronics thermal management, or RF systems
Demonstrated history of technical mentorship, team collaboration, and IP contribution
