Responsibilities
Assist with the financial administration of departmental, sponsored awards, and foundation funds
Assist with organization, management, and reporting of financial activity
Work with your supervisor to provide accurate financial statements for various departments
Assist with the creation of corrective paperwork, employee action requests, billing, requisitions, data entry, and monthly reconciliation
Attend Business Office Staff Meetings
Serve as a backup to the business office team
Ensure that all financial activities are in accordance with federal, state, university, college, and sponsor policies and procedures
Manage time effectively
Maintain organization of assignments
Provide excellent customer service to customers
Be team oriented
Qualification
Required
High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Accounting Specialist - Two years of experience in accounting/Bookkeeping
Senior Accounting Specialist - Three years of experience in accounting/Bookkeeping
Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices related to accounting/bookkeeping activities
Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment
Ability to maintain confidential information
Ability to manage several projects and tasks simultaneously
Strong problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and performing under tight deadlines
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to work in a team environment
Preferred
Bachelor's Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field
At least one year of professional accounting or related finance experience
