Senior Associate Vice President for Research

Oklahoma State University (OSU) is seeking a Senior Associate Vice President for Research to serve as a key member of the Vice President for Research leadership team. The SAVPR will manage a dynamic portfolio that enhances OSU's research enterprise and supports faculty and student-facing research programs, while also ensuring compliance and integrity in research practices.

Responsibilities

Function as a 'number two' to the Vice President for Research (VPR)
Serve as the senior member of the VPR leadership team
Fill in temporarily when leadership vacancies occur throughout the Research Division
Work with the VPR and the VPR leadership team to identify portfolio components
Create demonstrable positive impact on the OSU research enterprise
Manage institutional-level research strategy and policy
Liaise with Associate Deans for Research
Manage internal grants and startup packages
Oversee VPR-level programs and support undergraduate research
Manage institution-level institutes and core facilities
Coordinate OSU decentralized sponsored programs infrastructure
Manage contract/agreement management
Oversee public-facing outreach and communications
Liaise with federal delegation/staff and manage lobbyist relations
Support research-based economic development and technology commercialization
Oversee research cyberinfrastructure and high-performance computing
Manage research integrity and misconduct allegations/investigations
Ensure compliance across full spectrum of research compliance domains
Manage federally-compliant research security programs and insider threat programs
Oversee controlled unclassified information management and export controls

Required

An earned doctoral degree
Academic credentials and previous experience that merit a tenured appointment in an academic unit within the University
Professional and administrative experience in Research in a complex organizational environment
Demonstrated record of administrative leadership, personnel management, effective communication, and informed decision-making
Demonstrated record of inspiring and facilitating others to engage in a collaborative environment to innovate, create, and advance the research mission
Demonstrated record of working effectively with faculty and administrators to create collegial relationships that promote research
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with people in a wide variety of interests and disciplines to foster high productivity in research, scholarly and creative activities
