Network Engineer I
Black Eagle Defense is a Maryland-based small business that provides Information Technology, Cybersecurity, and related Consulting Services to the private and public sectors. They are seeking a Network Engineer I to perform network services from initial design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrades of existing network infrastructures, while also resolving network incidents and optimizing performance.

Responsibilities
Perform network services from initial design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrades of existing network infrastructures
Analyze design specifications and related documentation
Administer general LAN, CAN, and WAN environments
Schedule network conversions and cutovers as needed
Coordinate with responsible users and site personnel to identify and resolve network or system incidents
Translate business requirements into telecommunications solutions, including LAN, CAN, WAN, Voice, and Video systems
Perform engineering analysis of telecommunications alternatives to support strategic modernization and enhancement initiatives for medium and large-scale infrastructures
Assist end users, telecommunications operations personnel, and strategic program management teams with network interface requirements and performance optimization
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline is required
Five (5) years of relevant professional experience providing Network Engineering support and training commensurate with network engineering curricula
An Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01-M is required
Optimize end-to-end system performance and dataflow management
Conduct data captures to obtain network performance information and minimize network latency
Maximize data throughput through design analysis and network performance monitoring tools
Provide input to the design of the organization's network and mission architecture
Design, integrate, configure, deploy, test, and maintain network solutions for a wide range of devices, interfaces, and methodologies
Configure and optimize networks to connect front-end and back-end components
Gather data to specify system and component performance and interface requirements
Implement specific network solutions to support server and security requirements, including load balancing, VPNs, firewall contexts, traffic shaping, Voice over IP (VoIP), GRE tunneling, IP Security (IPSec), IP encryption, Media over IP (MoIP), and network address translation (NAT) where appropriate
Preferred
A master's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security Systems Engineering, or a related discipline may substitute for two (2) years of experience, requiring three (3) years of relevant professional experience
Seven (7) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree, making a total of twelve (12) years of Network Engineering experience equivalent
