Assistant Professor – Applied Data Science
The University of South Dakota's Knudson School of Law is seeking an Assistant Professor in Applied Data Science to begin in August 2026. The successful candidate will develop a new program in applied data science, teach courses, and engage in research while collaborating with industry and faculty.

Responsibilities
Participate in exploring a potential new program in applied data science or systems analysis
Teach courses in systems analysis and applied data science
Engage in research or applied projects, especially those involving collaboration with industry and USD faculty members
Play a key role in curriculum development and program oversight
Qualification
Required
Doctoral degree in data science, systems analysis, sustainability, environmental engineering, or a related field by the time of appointment
Expertise in sustainability systems analysis such as life cycle assessment, techno-economic assessment, integrated assessment models, material flow analysis, ecosystem services valuation, or closely related area
Expertise in applied data science
