Director, Technical Program Management - LLM Automation for Merchandising
Walmart Canada is seeking a bold, innovative Director to lead the implementation of LLM-powered automation for the Merchandising organization. The role focuses on translating complex workflows into intelligent systems, partnering across teams, and driving operational leverage through scalable AI solutions.

Responsibilities
Own automation strategy – Translate Wally’s GenAI vision into executable roadmaps for agentic workflows, ticket automation, and root cause diagnosis
Scale adoption – Partner with Merch Transformation teams to embed contextual AI into key workflows
Orchestrate delivery – Coordinate multi-agent architecture development across domains, with reusable, governed components
Prioritize automation ROI – Focus resources on initiatives that drive measurable time savings and business outcomes
Drive scale – Enable other teams to build into the Wally platform by developing integration playbooks, quality standards, and shared OKRs
Embed AI into decisioning – Help merchants move beyond dashboards by embedding intelligent agents that explain, predict, and act
Qualification
Required
Experience leading implementation of AI/LLM/automation at scale in a retail or enterprise environment
Ability to thrive on solving hard coordination problems across business, product, and engineering
Ability to translate ambiguous workflows into structured agentic systems
A passion for creating leverage—freeing up thousands of hours of merchant time
An understanding of both the 'why' and the 'how' of AI: product intuition + technical fluency
Ability to drive rigor and clarity into complex programs and roadmaps
A track record of scaling systems and mindsets—bringing others along on the AI transformation journey
7+ years in product, program, engineering, or data science leadership
Experience leading cross-functional AI/ML automation efforts
Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
Familiarity with modern LLM architectures, orchestration, and evaluation frameworks
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 7 years' experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area
Option 2: 9 years' experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area
Preferred
Certification in Project Management
Master's degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 5 years' experience in product design
Supervisory experience
