4+ years expAbacus Works is seeking a Senior Protocol Engineer to join the team behind Hyperlane, the first permissionless interoperability layer. The role involves designing and optimizing smart contracts for the Hyperlane interchain messaging API and expanding interoperability with other protocols.

Responsibilities
Design, implement, and optimize the smart contracts that underpin the Hyperlane interchain messaging API
Contribute to Hyperlane protocol development and manage the on-chain state of various Hyperlane deployments
Work on integrations of Hyperlane with other protocols to expand our interoperability
Design and implement novel economic primitives that secure the Hyperlane interchain messaging API
Set and maintain smart contract security best practices
Qualification
Required
2+ years designing, building, and maintaining smart contract protocols in production
Expert level knowledge of the EVM or other smart contract execution environments
A crypto-native with a strong understanding of cryptoeconomic systems
4+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record
Experience with code audits and maintaining high security standards
The drive, intensity, and motivation to perform at a world-class level
Preferred
Experience building in Solana, Cosmwasm, or Move-based execution environments
Familiarity with other areas in our tech stack (TypeScript, Rust agents, etc)
