Responsibilities
Administer and coordinate complex fiscal budgeting and operations to ensure fiscal integrity and uphold strong internal controls
Perform advanced budget and resource analyses, and assist in preparing monthly financial reports for principal investigators (PIs) and administration, using robust analytical tools
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, pre- and post-award grant administration
Respond to evolving financial reporting needs and provide ad hoc information for PIs, department chairs, and administration through campus financial systems
Prepare multi-year budgets and coordinate the submission of contract and grant proposals to various agencies
Provide policy interpretation, critical analyses, and administrative support for all aspects of temporary academic personnel administration
Oversee and audit departmental contract and grant funds, collaborating with departments to resolve issues
Train PIs and administrators on contract and grant responsibilities, accounting procedures, best practices, sponsor requirements, and ensuring compliance with UCR policies and regulations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
4 - 7 years of related experience
Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment
Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration
Ability to manage significant volume of transactions
Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas
Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques
Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor's guidelines
Ability to work with various and diverse groups of people and lead them to reach a common goal
Acts as the Lead Analyst for CHASS grant proposals involving multiple PI's, department, and/or other UCR colleges
Ability to independently audit departmental funds for oversight and training purposes
Forensic analysis of departmental contacts and grants and the ability to articulate and model the analysis and resolutions of problems to departmental personnel
