Civil Engineer - Hydraulics and Drainage (Transportation)

Responsibilities

Serve as a project engineer and technical resource, supporting a variety of transportation projects
Lead or assist with client relationships and business development efforts, including marketing pursuits
Price, estimate, and scope projects to help secure new work
Oversee analyses, computations, and design plans for hydraulic and drainage systems on highways and transportation projects
Attend field reviews to evaluate new designs and provide technical recommendations
Develop and refine stormwater management solutions, including detention/retention basins, erosion control design, and SWPPPs (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans)
Partner with MnDOT, counties, watershed districts, environmental agencies, and other stakeholders to deliver effective, compliant design solutions
Collaborate across disciplines, contributing to projects that span aviation, water resources, bridges, and more
Act as a mentor to junior engineers, helping to shape the future of the drainage team
Represent Mead & Hunt in client meetings and presentations with professionalism and technical expertise

Required

Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university
PE licensure (Professional Engineer)
6+ years of relevant experience in hydraulics and drainage design for transportation projects

Preferred

8+ years of experience with progressive responsibility
Familiarity with MnDOT hydraulics guidelines, policies, and procedures
Proficiency in MicroStation, OpenRoads Drainage, and H&H software such as HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM, or HydroCAD
Experience with erosion control design, BMPs, and preparation of SWPPPs
Strong communication skills with the ability to present to clients and collaborate across disciplines
