The Estimating Engineer Intern will assist in developing detailed construction cost estimates and collaborate with project management to relay information between Estimating and Operations.

Responsibilities
Assist in estimate preparation with correct On Screen Take off (OST) and Scope defined documentation
Provide high quality estimating data in a timely and professional manner
Self-check work
Peer review work
Gain an understanding of our estimating fundamentals
Familiarity with estimating terminology and basic concepts
Coordinate with Operations to understand schedule and General Conditions to be applied to the each project
Understanding of how to read and interpret drawings and specifications
Understand how to coordinate scopes of work between an array of trade contractors
Develop familiarity with estimate requirements
Perform whole building quantity survey and analysis on projects
Coordination with Design team throughout the different phases of estimating to ensure undefined scope is clarified
Work closely with Preconstruction Manager and Estimating staff to analyze phasing, sequencing, and work limitations
Produce reports for departmental use in generating whole building estimates
Apply computer skills in the execution of work
Visit site and record existing conditions
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Junior to seniors currently enrolled at a four-year institution
Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related degree
Proactive, open-minded, eager to learn and willing to work hard as part of a team
Working knowledge of construction techniques and building materials is a plus
Must work effectively with estimating staff and other project team members
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel is required; use of OST is a plus
Ability to work under pressure to meet internal and client project deadlines without compromising quality
