Inside Plant Power and Facilities Engineer I/II
Uniti is a premier insurgent fiber provider dedicated to enabling mission-critical connectivity across the United States. The Inside Plant Power and Facilities Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and maintaining the power and cooling infrastructure at Uniti's Central Offices and 3rd party carrier hotels, ensuring compliance with company standards and project completion.

Responsibilities
Day-to-day activities include writing detailed installation procedures, submitting RFQs, ordering material, creating MOPS, and creating the drawings associated with each project
Collaborate with Operations, Facilities Management, and all Engineering verticals to ensure on time completion of projects
Maintain facility records, permits, applications and other regulatory matters
Inventory list preparation and sourcing, staging of required materials for pickup by vendors or internal resources
Perform diverse and multifaceted duties which are not limited to repair, maintenance, and upgrades
Track all capital costs associated with projects and ensure they remain within budgetary limits
Initiate and track all required capital activity request forms, and all purchase order requests to vendors required for the various projects
Upon job completion, will perform random quality inspections of installations to ensure they meet the Uniti standards and update all corporate records with new equipment and assignment information
Qualification
Required
College degree in Engineering or a related field and 0-2 years professional level experience; or 4+ years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required
Strong project management skills and the ability to work with and direct others within the Uniti team and vendors
Experience coordinating construction schedules and necessary hardware resources
Capability to lead inter-departmental teams including coordinating and leading weekly project-based conference calls as necessary
Ability to write detailed technical installation specifications, which may require researching manufacturer installation guides for power and cabling requirements
Knowledge of AC power, DC battery power plants, DC BDFBs (Battery Distribution Fuse Bays), power cable sizing, heat loads, HVAC, generators, and ATS
Experience and knowledge of telecommunications record keeping and standard drawing types (i.e., floor plans, face equipment drawings, assignment charts, cabling running lists, etc.) and the ability to create these drawings from scratch for new locations
Ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced environment
Must be motivated, energetic, have a strong work ethic and able to attend to offsite concerns in a moment's notice
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as customer service skills
Experience working in carrier hotels, CLEC/ILEC central offices and collocation facilities
Ability to work during non-traditional hours and be available for callout for emergency events
A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance
Preferred
Ability to use a power meter and read schematics to isolate and repair troubles as well as be a technical interface with peers
A background in budgetary project tracking and adherence and the ability to develop long term capital projects
Knowledge of ILEC standards, documents, tariffs, and central office installation procedures
Facility build-out and construction experience from site planning to space ready
Proficient in the use of QuickBase, Microsoft Word, Excel, CAD, and Visio
Microsoft Project experience is a plus
