Mid LevelAtlantic Eye is a leading Ophthalmology Ambulatory Surgery Center seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Registered Nurse / Certified Surgical Technologist to join their surgical team. The role involves performing preoperative assessments, assisting during surgeries, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical process.

Responsibilities
Perform preoperative assessments including vital signs, medical history verification, and medication reconciliation
Assist with patient positioning and comfort in pre-op and PACU settings
Surgical site verification with surgeon and conducts proper 'Time Out' protocol
Provide emotional support and needs for patient
Provide scrub tech/scrub nurse and surgeon with equipment or supplies needed during the procedure
Maintains and oversee aseptic technique adherence during surgical case
Provides a safe environment for treating surgical patients including safeguards to protect patients from cross contamination
Complete operative records
Monitor patients during recovery, noting any adverse reactions or complications and reporting to DON
Provide post-operative instructions and education to patients and caregivers
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EMR
Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields for ophthalmic procedures including cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, vitrectomies, and other eye-related surgeries
Anticipate surgeon's needs during procedures and provide appropriate instruments and supplies
Ensure proper sterilization of surgical instruments and compliance with infection control standards
Count instruments and supplies pre- and post-procedure to ensure nothing is retained
Assist in the turnover of OR between cases, maintaining efficiency while upholding sterile technique
Qualification
Required
Current and valid RN license in the state of New Jersey
Completion of an accredited Scrub Tech or Surgical Technologist program
BLS Certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
Preferred
Prior experience in an ASC or operating room setting, especially in ophthalmology preferred
