Responsibilities
Assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures by performing Scrub, Circulator, or Monitor functions
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of equipment and supplies in the CCL
Recognizing cardiac arrhythmias and responding according to emergency protocols
Operating external cardiac pacemaker and defibrillator
Performing surgical prep and draping of the patient, assisting the physician with equipment operation and device preparation
Moving about the lab during the procedure providing equipment to the scrub tech as needed
Attending to the needs of the patient as well as ensuring proper use of patient monitoring equipment
Monitoring vital signs during the procedure, documenting the procedure and creating a medical record
Recording intra-cardiac/arterial pressures and waveforms
Responsible for interdepartmental communications
Qualification
Required
Technical Diploma (±12 years)
Knowledge and skills level of basic and complex invasive procedures including PTCA, stents, IABP placement and operation, thrombolysis procedures, coils, and peripheral interventions
Ability to recognize cardiac arrhythmias and respond according to emergency protocols
Ability to operate external cardiac pacemaker and defibrillator
Willingness and ability to rotate through Scrub, Circulator, and Monitor roles
Experience with surgical prep and draping of the patient
Ability to assist the physician with equipment operation and device preparation
Ability to monitor vital signs during procedures
Ability to document procedures and create medical records
Ability to record intra-cardiac/arterial pressures and waveforms
Ability to ensure proper use of patient monitoring equipment
Ability to assist in adhering to aseptic sterile technique
