4-H Youth Development Coordinator

Valley County is seeking a 4-H Youth Development Coordinator to develop, plan, and conduct programs that deliver youth and volunteer education in support of 4-H programs. This role involves providing structured educational experiences that promote positive youth development and building community partnerships.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary contact for all 4-H Youth Development Club adults and youth, ensuring the successful operation and compliance of all club activities
Oversee the design, teaching, delivery, and evaluation of all 4-H club programming while actively recruiting, training, and supporting certified 4-H volunteer club leaders
Monitor club compliance with both UI Extension and national 4-H policies, and meticulously maintain accurate member enrollment and project data using Z-Suites, Fair Entry, and related systems
Organize and manage all county-wide club events, such as record book judging, oral presentations, various livestock activities (weigh-ins, field days, shows), air project judging, and ribbon/award coordination
Act as the lead liaison with the Fair Board and Buildings & Grounds for all club-related fair activities
Support financial compliance by auditing club and Leaders Council accounts and assisting with nonprofit filings
Partner with the 4-H Community Program Coordinator on county-wide celebrations and youth recognition events
Plan, teach, deliver, and evaluate flexible youth programming across the county including in-school enrichment lessons, after-school programs, day camps, workshops, project-in-a-day events, and summer and winter programs
Ensure program fidelity by maintaining group enrollment reporting requirements
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with local organizations, libraries, schools, and civic groups to expand program reach
Directly support programming by recruiting, training, and supporting certified 4-H non-club volunteer leaders
Play a critical role in strategic initiatives, including developing a Workforce Development program in alignment with partners, specifically utilizing the 4-H Beyond Ready initiative, and collaborating with the Club Program Coordinator on county-wide celebrations and youth recognition events

Required

Established experience in youth development, education, agriculture, family and consumer sciences, or a related field
Proven background delivering youth programming in group settings
Knowledge of 4-H and related programs and curricula
Strong volunteer recruitment and support skills
Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
Ability to engage with a broad stakeholder audience and build collaborative relationships
Ability to work independently and exercise initiative
Intermediate computer skills for data management, reporting, outreach, and social media platforms
Flexibility with a willingness to travel within the county
Ability to conduct and attend various evening and weekend programs and educational meetings
Valid driver's license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle
