Responsibilities

Oversee design and fabrication of new lab experiments and demonstrations, update lab handouts, train teaching assistants (TAs) and perform demonstrations
Ensure that facilities, equipment and supplies are up-to-date and ready for classroom usage
Oversee lab equipment by making sure that it is working and in good condition
Check in/out lab materials/equipment to students as needed
Maintain inventory of hardware for course usage (supplies, equipment, etc.)
Make recommendations for new equipment, and write funding requests for such equipment
Install, update, configure and maintain software on lab computers to support student learning (in conjunction with SET Tech Support Team); provide technical support for the lab to ensure reliable operation, timely upgrades and coordination of local and remote resources
Oversee lab safety compliance in all mechanical engineering labs and shops and train students, faculty, and staff in the safe and effective operation of mechanical engineering lab and machine shop equipment
Responsible for regular disposal of surplus property
Engineering support for students – training & demonstrations for senior design teams, mechanical engineering clubs, projects & research
Support program curriculum and student learning outcomes
Participate in Mechanical Engineering (ME) outreach to prospective students

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
At least three years of experience with automation equipment repair/maintenance

Preferred

Experience repairing laboratory or shop equipment
Experience developing and executing lab safety protocols
Ability to communicate laboratory procedures and theoretical concepts to students
Ability to use algebra, trigonometry, and calculus to solve chemistry, physics, and engineering problems
Have positive human relations skills
Knowledge of and hands-on experience with additive manufacturing
Knowledge and hands-on experience with data acquisition
