Head of Finance – Series B, Healthcare AI Startup
Quix Recruitment Group is partnering with a high-growth healthcare AI startup transforming specialty clinic operations. As the first finance hire, you will build the finance function from the ground up, set core processes, and shape the financial strategy that fuels rapid growth. This role combines hands-on execution with strategic leadership, preparing you for future CFO responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Build Finance 0 → 1: Establish forecasting, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and internal controls
Hire & Lead: Build and manage a lean finance team, starting with a senior accountant and finance operations specialist
Be Hands-On: Roll up your sleeves on reconciliations, board decks, and reporting; nothing is “too small.”
Leverage AI: Use AI-driven tools to streamline workflows, improve accuracy, and generate insights
Partner with Leadership: Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to track performance, shape growth strategy, and support fundraising
Scale Systems: Build scalable finance systems and reporting infrastructure to support 3x team growth
Board & Investor Reporting: Deliver transparent, compelling reports to current and future investors
Drive financial strategy: budgets, forecasts, SaaS KPIs (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV), and scenario planning
Lead investor relations & fundraising readiness, including Board reporting and due diligence
Oversee commercial finance: pricing, margins, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and profitability tracking
Ensure financial control & compliance, including audits, tax, and risk management
Build and mentor a high-performing finance team while embedding financial accountability across the business
Qualification
Required
4–10 years in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, or strategic finance
2+ years in M&A, investing, or corporate development at a high-growth startup
Experience building finance processes from 0 → 1 in B2B SaaS or B2C startups
Bachelor's degree required
Expert in financial modeling, forecasting, and turning data into actionable insights
Experience with board and investor reporting
Scrappy, hands-on, builder's mentality; comfortable in the weeds and presenting to executives
Willingness to work on-site 4 days/week in downtown San Francisco

Preferred
10+ years in finance, with 5+ years in senior SaaS/FinTech roles
Experience scaling finance functions through Series A/B/C or pre-exit stages
Strong FP&A, SaaS metrics expertise, investor-facing reporting, and commercial partnership skills
Highly analytical, collaborative, calm under pressure; CPA or MBA preferred
Ambitious and ready to progress into a CFO role
