Entry, Mid Level4P Consulting Inc. is seeking a Distribution Systems Operator Engineer to ensure the efficient, reliable, and safe distribution of electricity or gas to customers. The role involves continuous system monitoring, emergency response, load management, and communication with various teams to coordinate operations.

Responsibilities
Continuously monitor the electrical or gas distribution system, including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, and related assets using SCADA and other monitoring tools
Respond quickly to alarms, outages, and system emergencies. Isolate faults and restore service safely while adhering to all safety and regulatory protocols
Monitor and balance system loads to maintain reliability, manage peak demands, and perform load restoration where possible
Execute switching operations to reconfigure distribution networks, isolate faults, and restore power efficiently
Identify and resolve issues involving equipment failures, voltage fluctuations, or power quality concerns
Analyze SCADA data and system trends to identify anomalies, performance gaps, and potential improvements
Maintain constant communication with dispatchers, field crews, engineers, and maintenance personnel to coordinate switching, maintenance, and restoration activities
Promote a strong culture of safety and ensure all operations comply with OSHA, NERC, and company safety policies
Record and maintain detailed logs of system events, switching activities, and outages; prepare operational reports as required
Stay current on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulations through continuous professional development
Support inspection and preventive maintenance of distribution equipment; collaborate with engineering, planning, and maintenance teams on system upgrades or repairs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field
Equivalent experience in distribution system operations or utility environments
Prior experience in distribution operations, utility control, or engineering roles
Familiarity with power distribution equipment, field switching, and control room operations
Proficiency with SCADA, Distribution Management Systems (DMS), and related operational software
In-depth understanding of distribution principles, protection schemes, and control systems
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills under pressure
Effective communication and coordination across multiple teams
Sound decision-making ability in real-time operations
Adaptability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field preferred
Prior experience in distribution operations, utility control, or engineering roles strongly preferred
NERC certification or other relevant utility/industry certifications preferred
