Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, from concept through production, for autonomous rail vehicles
Develop and maintain complex structural and subcomponent designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, ensuring products meet performance and manufacturing requirements
Perform and review advanced structural and thermal analyses to validate and optimize designs for performance, reliability, and safety
Drive the design of mechanical systems and components, including their integration and installation on the vehicles
Lead the development of test plans and oversee validation and verification activities to ensure designs meet operational and functional requirements
Collaborate with suppliers to optimize component design for manufacturability, cost, and quality
Solve complex problems related to fielded hardware design and provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle
Mentor and coach junior mechanical engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and fostering their professional growth
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
At least 4 years of experience in mechanical design for aerospace, automotive, heavy machinery or complex industrial equipment
Demonstrated proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Fusion, or similar) for complex component and assembly design
Experience coaching or mentoring junior engineers or designers
Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches
Fluent in both written and verbal English

Preferred
Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:
Experience in directly applicable industries, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, Automotive, or Heavy Machinery
Expertise in structural analysis (FEA) and/or thermal management system design
Experience with vehicle electrification, powertrain design, or e-axle development
Deep knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
Experience working in Agile environments for hardware development
Demonstrated experience working on project teams and collaborating with other engineering disciplines
