Responsibilities

Facilitating communication and maximizing swallowing safety for individuals residing in assigned homes
Providing evaluation, direct treatment, program planning, in-service training, and consultation with staff
Ensuring integration of services and maintaining required records and documentation
Playing an integral role in the Person-Centered Planning process
Maximizing individuals’ independence in daily routines and activities

Required

Licensed by the Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologist
Master's degree in speech and language pathology from an appropriately accredited institution as required by the N.C. licensing statute (G.S.90-292) to be eligible for granting of a temporary license issued by the N.C. Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathologist and Audiologist
Candidates will be considered while completing licensure requirements. Licensure must be obtained prior to beginning employment

Preferred

Considerable knowledge of and skill in the application of professional speech and language theory, techniques, principles, and procedures
Familiarity with a broad range of augmentative communication systems designed to develop functional communication for individuals who do not demonstrate typical communication abilities
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills
Ability to work well within a team of professionals and a willingness to adapt to change, when needed
Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred but not required
