Mid, Senior LevelPrinceton IT Services, Inc is seeking an experienced Postgres DBA to design, maintain, and administer Postgres databases across distributed and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with EDB Postgres, Postgres Distributed, and AWS RDS, along with strong expertise in performance tuning, monitoring, and automation.

Responsibilities
Collaborate with Postgres and cloud vendors, leveraging their support channels
Develop and implement backup strategies, perform upgrades, and apply patches
Identify inefficiencies and implement optimized database solutions
Design and execute data and database migrations to new hardware or platforms
Lead best practices and database solution strategies across teams
Plan and implement new tools and data services in collaboration with management
Represent Database Engineering in strategic planning and long-term technical direction
Support internal and cloud-managed Postgres systems, defining best practices and driving automation
Collaborate with multiple application and development teams
Assist in defining long-term strategic database goals in alignment with business objectives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
Experience in design, maintenance, and administration of EDB Postgres, Postgres Distributed, and AWS RDS
Deep understanding of Postgres architecture and internals
Proficiency in PostgreSQL installation and configuration, especially PostgreSQL Plus Advanced Server and Postgres Distributions from EnterpriseDB
Skilled in PostgreSQL monitoring and alerting tools such as PEM, and familiar with observability tools like Splunk or Dynatrace
Experienced in setting up, configuring, and monitoring binary and logical replication (e.g., Binary Streaming, Bi-Directional Replication - BDR)
Strong skills in diagnostics, tuning, and performance optimization
Proficient in PostgreSQL procedural languages (PL/pgSQL, PL/Tcl, PL/Perl, PL/Python) and SQL
Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills
Preferred
Experience with cloud-managed Postgres and database automation tools
Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD integration for database management
Knowledge of data migration strategies and high-availability setups
