Flight Guidance Engineer (Summer 2026 Internship)

Reliable Robotics is building safety-enhancing technology for aviation that will save lives. As a Flight Guidance Engineering Intern, you will support the design, implementation, and testing of guidance systems for autonomous flight, contributing to the integration of uncrewed aircraft into the National Airspace System.

Responsibilities

Design guidance system features that interface seamlessly with flight control systems and pilot displays
Implement flight guidance algorithms in flight software and validate in simulation
Build infrastructure for automated simulation and hardware-in-the-loop testing of guidance algorithms
Integrate and verify guidance system features in software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop test environments
Develop flight test plans and conduct post-test data review

Required

Currently enrolled as a junior or senior in an undergraduate program in aerospace engineering, robotics engineering, software engineering, or similar field of study
A solid understanding of fundamentals -- engineering math, kinematics, and dynamics
Proficient in C++ and Python
Proactive and motivated to tackle hard problems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

Currently enrolled in a graduate program in aerospace engineering, robotics engineering, software engineering, or similar advanced degree
Experience in one or more of the following areas: motion planning, optimization, control theory, probability theory
Experience developing software for safety critical applications
