Electrical Engineer III - Systems

Responsibilities
Perform system protection including, but not limited to, relay setting development and programming, develop relay and protective test plans, system sectionalizing and device coordination, and fault current analysis
Responsible for system analysis including, but not limited to distribution work plans, transmission planning/studies, large load interconnections, load flow studies, and facility ratings
Provide support to the Operations team by providing onsite support/troubleshooting, development, and review of switching orders, review and provide guidance of system limitations, and root cause analysis
Responsible for project management by reviewing and developing scope, schedule, and budget with consultants, managing projects up to $5,000,000, construction contract management, and working with procurement department to procure materials
Responsible for the development of substation maintenance work plans including transformer oil testing and processing, equipment electrical testing, equipment repairs, infrared scans, and wildlife protection and mitigation
Responsible for the development and maintenance of the Districts SCADA System, which includes but is not limited to, configuration and programming of devices, development and maintenance of HMI screens, deploying automation schemes, and support to the Operations team
Review and analyze power quality data and provide recommendations and/or guidance to mitigate issues
Review and provide feedback for net metering interconnections
Develop reports and recommendations, review/redline and updates drawings, and reviews maintenance and testing reports
Support WECC/NERC Standards compliance consultant as a subject matter expert in applicable areas of the system
Aid in the professional development and mentorship of the Engineering Department
Perform other related tasks assigned by the System Engineering Supervisor to help the Engineering Department meet District goals and expectations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
Minimum of 8 years of experience in utility or power engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must have a valid Driver's license
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required in the State of Washington
Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams
Experience in engineering analysis software preferred
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Ability to walk, climb stairs, bend, reach, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and sit for extended periods of time
Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
Required to speak and hear clearly when communicating over the telephone and in person
Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments
Ability to encounter hazardous conditions
