Responsibilities
Develop and implement a strategic vision for the growth of the department, advancing its educational, research, and service missions while aligning with emerging trends in the field
Drive curriculum and research innovations by promoting initiatives in areas such as advanced manufacturing, robotics, AI and machine learning, sustainable energy systems, and biomedical devices to name several
Cultivate and expand cross-disciplinary collaborations, strengthen industry and corporate partnerships, and develop local and global networks of support that reflect the needs of 21st-century employers
Oversee undergraduate and graduate programs, ensuring academic excellence, accreditation compliance, and relevance to the future of the profession
Recruit, retain, mentor, and promote outstanding and diverse faculty and staff
Manage departmental resources, operations, and budgets effectively and responsibly
Collaborate with the Dean and University leadership on policy development and strategic priorities
Lead and support fundraising and external engagement efforts to enhance the department’s visibility and resources
Qualification
Required
Possess an earned terminal degree in Industrial, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering or a closely related discipline
Have an established record of accomplishments in teaching, research and service which merits appointment at the rank of full professor
Have gained significant administrative and leadership experience in an academic, a professional, or a research setting
Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with a proven ability to build partnerships and lead diverse teams
Indicate a commitment to working with a diverse student body
Preferred
Success in fund-raising and securing external support from a variety of sources, including federal, state, private, and industrial
Experience with interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations, entrepreneurship, and the development of new and innovative programs
Experience with academic program accreditation, such as ABET, and curriculum development
