Responsibilities
Build, mentor, and manage a growing team of electrical engineers (initially two direct reports, scaling to four or five)
Establish a strong technical and collaborative culture aligned with global standards
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development support for engineers
Lead sustaining engineering efforts for existing surgical systems, including redesigns for EOL or obsolescence-driven changes
Oversee verification and validation (V&V) for all electrical design modifications, ensuring compliance with FDA and ISO 13485 requirements
Partner with manufacturing and quality to troubleshoot production issues and drive corrective actions
Own documentation and traceability through the Design History File (DHF), including design input/output, risk analysis, and ECO approvals
Act as on-site technical authority for complex electronic designs across digital, analog/power, and FPGA systems
Review and approve PCB designs (typically 6+ layers; 10+ layers preferred) for signal integrity, power design, EMC compliance, and manufacturability
Provide architectural guidance and system-level integration input for multi-disciplinary product improvements
Lead or support root cause analysis, testing, and validation activities for field or production issues
Work closely with Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineering teams to ensure efficient cross-functional alignment
Coordinate with Electrical Engineering leaders at other locations to ensure consistency and alignment in design practices, standards, and processes across all sites
Lead technical presentations and participate in formal design reviews
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
10+ years of experience in electronic design and development for complex products
5+ years of experience managing engineering teams or leading cross-functional project teams
Strong proficiency in PCB design, signal integrity, and high-speed digital systems
Solid understanding of analog/power electronics, including DC-DC, LDO, and EMI/EMC best practices
Experience with motor control and motor drive circuits
Familiarity with FPGA logic design and verification
Experience with schematic capture and layout tools
Skilled in use of oscilloscopes and electronic lab equipment
Strong documentation discipline within regulated product environments
Proven ability to lead through influence and resolve team conflicts constructively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in presenting to technical and non-technical audiences
Hands-on mindset with a strong bias toward mentorship, collaboration, and proactive leadership
Capable of building structure, culture, and process in a new site environment
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
