Responsibilities

Working closely with the Design Director, define ALO’s packaging vision & system: brand architecture, tiering (core/premium/luxury/gifting), and a coherent unboxing/retail experience across categories and channels

Build a cohesive portfolio of packaging solutions that reflect ALO’s premium, luxury-driven aesthetic while balancing functionality, scalability, and cost

Develop brand packaging guidelines: Create toolkits for materials, finishes, colors, and sustainability standards that unify packaging across categories and channels

Lead research & strategy: Audit competitors and adjacent industries (luxury fashion, beauty, lifestyle) to inform innovation and differentiation

Conduct hands-on research: Attend industry tradeshows, supplier showcases, and competitive shopping experiences to identify emerging materials, finishes, and sustainability innovations

Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with Merchandising, Sustainability, Ops, and Sourcing to align packaging design with global needs and supply chain realities

Vendor partnership: Establish standards for quality and color, evaluate new materials, and oversee prototypes through to approval

Mentorship: Provide direction and creative guidance to a Packaging Production Designer, ensuring design integrity translates into flawless execution

Drive sustainability: Advance ALO’s goals by introducing recyclable, renewable, and minimal-waste packaging solutions that reinforce our values

Required

8+ years of relevant experience in packaging design, with proven impact in luxury retail, fashion, or beauty

Strong portfolio showcasing luxury packaging systems and an elevated aesthetic

Deep knowledge of materials, print processes, and finishing techniques that deliver premium experiences

Strategic thinker with ability to balance creativity, operations, and sustainability

Proficient in modern design and production software applications necessary for packaging design; able to adapt quickly to new tools and workflows

Strong communicator and collaborator, comfortable presenting to creative leadership and crossfunctional partners
