Syracuse Area Health is hiring an Environmental Services Technician for full-time evening/overnight shifts. The role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety in the facilities, adhering to infection control guidelines, and providing support to staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

Provide a clean, safe and friendly environment for patients, visitors and all staff in accordance with departmental policies and procedures

Cleans and disinfects patient, ancillary and public areas as assigned daily following established procedures

Operates manual, battery-powered and electric equipment such as mechanical floor cleaners and vacuums

Maintains and stores all equipment in a safe, sanitary manner

Collects, handles and disposes of designated waste streams and soiled linens in the prescribed manner

Completes stat and routine discharge room cleans

Adheres to all hospital required Safety, Risk Management and Infection Control practices

Provides support with the training and orientation of new employees

Greets and directs visitors, patients and staff

Provide assistance as needed

Attends all meetings and training sessions as required

Follows established hospital and departmental policies and procedures

Other duties as assigned by management

Required

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous business/facility cleaning experience required with experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Strong customer service skills, including experience working with others in a courteous manner

Demonstrated ability to work independently and utilize good time management skills

Customer Service Driven Professionalism/Growth

Basic reading and writing skills required in order to understand and use chemical labels, SDS sheets, OSHA standards, isolation procedures, written instructions and departmental policies

Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times
