Director Accounting

Tucson Medical Center is seeking a Director of Accounting to oversee day-to-day accounting processes and ensure accurate financial reporting. The role includes managing staff, facilitating audits, and supporting the Controller in various financial initiatives.

Health Care

Responsibilities

Oversees management of hospital systems general accounting
Supports Controller in cost containment initiatives
Facilitates FTE and PP&E committees
Assist to Analyzes budget to actual variances and assists in translating these into remediations
Manages staff; interviews, hires, and trains; evaluates employee performance; deals with performance problems as appropriate; delegates work assignments effectively
Develops a coaching and mentoring relationship with others that is purposefully aimed at developing their independence
Assists with timely completion of year-end internal and external audits
Assists Hospital Controller in overseeing planning, control, and effective utilization of financial resources of the institution
Oversee the generation of timely and accurate month- and year-end financial reports for external and internal audiences
Review of hospital financial and operating statements, providing analysis of operating results and trends
Analyzes financial reports and records to include in financial studies and various management reports
Provides information or resource assistance to other teams, departments, or functions; assists others in their efforts, even if there is no immediate or direct benefit to one’s own function or department
Reports to Controller any circumstance or condition that might hinder hospital and physician relationships or that may interfere with quality patient care
Proactively develops contingency plans with appropriate tactics and responds to unforeseen circumstances, which utilizes planned resources
Adheres to TMCH organizational and department-specific safety, confidentiality, values, policies and standards

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience
Three (3) years of supervisory or management experience
Expert skills in excel
Expert knowledge of ERP / systems
Expert knowledge of US GAAP
Expert abilities or prepare financial statements
Expert knowledge of Tax / Treasury
Expert knowledge of AP / Payroll
Expert skills in BS Reconciliations
Expert skills in Bank Reconciliations
Experience abilities in audit preparation
Expert skills in processes evaluations and design
Expert skills in troubleshooting
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Strong attention to detail skills
Strong problem-solving skills

Preferred

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
