Senior LevelThe University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is seeking an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Graphic Design for its Department of Media, Art and Design. The role involves developing curricula, leading experiential learning, and engaging in creative research while shaping the future of the department.

Responsibilities
Develop new curricula for graphic design studio courses
Lead experiential learning opportunities such as client-based initiatives through the Student Design Lab
Connect students to community design partners
Demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to effectively teach graphic design
Engage in creative research and maintain a national and international reputation
Shape the future of the Department of Media, Art and Design (MAD)
Make use of professional connections to museums, studios, and design organizations in the Kansas City area
Qualification
Required
An M.F.A. in graphic design or an M.F.A. or Ph.D. in a related field is required
Candidates currently completing an M.F.A or Ph.D. will be considered, but the degree must be awarded by August 1, 2026
A record of working within and across a combination of graphic design mediums, including, but not limited to, visual identity development, digital illustration, character design, storyboarding and user mapping, UI/UX and interaction design, motion design and animation, and packaging design
A portfolio of personal, professional, and student work that demonstrates the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively teach graphic design
Teaching responsibilities will primarily be in-person in a studio/workshop format
