Responsibilities
You'll be responsible for building systems that support analytics production at scale. This includes building tools and processes using our core engineering building blocks and maturing prototypes into production-ready systems
You’ll own the deployment and operation of ML systems that support products like MGP Pro and Sentry
Driven by our product management partners, you’ll help develop algorithmic solutions to complex customer problems, creating machinery that delivers unparalleled geospatial insights
You’ll work on problems like change detection and spatiotemporal analytics while working with Maxar’s high resolution satellite imagery, as well as other remote sensing and geospatial data sources
Through collaboration with our Applications and Infrastructure teams, you’ll build software systems that are guaranteed to directly support user- and mission-critical workflows
You’ll serve as a people manager for a distributed team of approximately 5 staff, conducting 1:1s, enabling growth, and managing performance
Qualification
Required
Strong Python skills
Adept at translating prototype capabilities into principled software built around sound data structures thoughtful design patterns
Experience in computer vision, cloud-based image processing workflows, machine learning, distributed computing, or similar domains
8+ years of development experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, etc.), or equivalent experience
Preferred
Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, etc.), or equivalent experience
Recent experience with some of the following technologies and practices: MLOps tools (e.g., Kubeflow, Metaflow, WandB, etc.), Orchestration and deployment infrastructure like Kubernetes, Docker, and Argo Workflows, AWS managed services, especially Lambdas/State Machines, Batch, EKS, and Cloudwatch, IaC tools like Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation, GitHub, GitLab, or any other Git tools, Distributed computing frameworks like Dask, Ray, and Spark, ML tools like PyTorch, HuggingFace, Scikit-Learn, and Lightning, etc., Database and storage technologies like PostgreSQL, S3, Iceberg etc
Experience building, managing, and engineering production pipelines associated with large scale geospatial datasets
Knowledge of electro-optical and radar satellite image formation, radiometry, and image acquisition metadata
Experience in multi-band image processing and modeling techniques
Experience working with time-series geospatial data
Understanding of Shape Up methodologies is a plus
Prior experience with GCP is a plus
