Certified Child Life Specialist - Thompson Autism and Neurodevelopmental Center (Full-Time, Days)

Responsibilities
Assess the emotional, developmental, educational, recreational and diversionary needs of the patient and sibling
Provide developmental stimulation, therapeutic play and activities, procedural preparation, age-appropriate education, and family support to help reduce stress, increase adaptive coping, and enhance developmental growth
Administer individual and/or group therapeutic activities
Qualification
Required
Previous and/or current experience working with infants, children, and adolescents
Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Human Development, Psychology, or closely related field
Child Life Certification or eligibility. Must have completed a minimum of 600 hours of a child life clinical internship under the direct supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist
Ability to positively interact with children and families
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely and organized manner
Ability to work in collaboration and in a positive manner with others
Ability to perform duties independently of other Child Life Specialists
Perform work according to CHOC policies and procedures, professional standards of care, and applicable laws
Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards
Care with sensitivity and respect
Advance care through the development of new ideas and technology
Promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission
Understand and exceed customer expectations
Certified Child Life Specialist, must gain certification within one (1) year of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or CHOC BLS Prep Course for RQI completed within 90 days of hire or transfer into position
Preferred
Two(2) years of professional experience as a Child Life Specialist
Master's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Human Development, Psychology, or closely related field
Bilingual skills in English/Spanish
