Software Engineer - Journeyman

PeopleTec, Inc. is currently seeking a Software Engineer - Journeyman to support their Huntsville, AL location. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and integration of software systems in support of DoD weapon systems, collaborating with a team to develop solutions that enhance the effectiveness of military operations.

Responsibilities

Understanding and developing solutions to support emerging needs in a dynamic environment
Planning, implementing, testing, documenting, and maintaining solutions for the integration and testing of products
Maintaining and evolving software architectures and external interfaces to expand capabilities of models and simulations
Developing SW tools to support company and Government projects, applying personal and team expertise in scientific, engineering, AI/ML, and Agile SW development
Utilizing AI/ML tools to analyze data, identify patterns, and improve processes/training
Collaborating with other developers to analyze, estimate, design, and implement features
Facilitating cloud transition and maintenance by refactoring applications, implementing scalable architectures, and ensuring continuous integration, deployment, and monitoring
Completing and maintaining training courses as required by the contract
Specifying functional requirements, design computer simulations, client-server architectures, advanced networks/protocols, and databases
Reviewing and developing technical specifications and standards, ensuring successful integration of subsystems into a microservice-oriented architecture framework
Integrating and modifying software components and ensure interfaces and languages are compatible with the overall architecture
Planning and creating new software modules to implement future capability enhancements as well as respond to changing customer requirements
Designing and developing advanced networks and protocols, database management systems, and program in high order languages
Preparing and presenting briefings to internal and external teammates as well as customers
Applying science and/or engineering techniques to develop economical solutions to technical problems

Required

Proficiency in common high-order programming languages such as C/C++, C#, and Python and the Windows and Linux operating systems
Skilled in API design, development, and integration for data exchange between systems
Familiarity with frontend development languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as well as frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue
Familiarity with problem solving and algorithms, object oriented programming, version control, and unit testing
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills in the application of requirements analysis, design and development, unit testing, verification, integration, and reporting
Sound oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly present and communicate technical approaches and findings to the team and the government customer
Experience working in an integrated development environment and using tools like Git and Visual Studio
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project)
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, team environment
Travel: Up to 10%
Must be a U.S. Citizen
An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment
Bachelor's degree in science in software engineering or related field of study from an accredited college or university and 3 to 10 years of progressively complex experience in computer simulation, software, advanced networking techniques and protocols, data bases, high-order programming languages, and operating systems. A masters degree may substitute for 3 years of experience

Preferred

Seven (7) years' experience developing software for DoD customers
Experience with Development, Security and Operations (DevSecOps) development practices
Experience working a Government and/or DoD cloud environment
Experience with the Joint Munitions Effectiveness Manual (JMEM) Weaponeering Software (JWS)
Experience with Endgame Framework
Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework
