Electrical Engineer
Sharp Business USA is a leader in consumer appliances, seeking an Electrical Engineer to contribute to product development and ensure compliance with industry standards. The role involves hands-on design reviews, troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance product functionality and consumer experience.
Responsibilities
Participate in hands-on design review, prototyping, and validation of consumer appliance electrical systems, including electronic components, control panels, graphical user interfaces, and mechanism controls
Support electrical aspects of NPI efforts, contributing to timely, high-quality product launches
Troubleshoot and refine designs to improve performance, reliability, and user experience throughout the product lifecycle
Collaborate with product design, manufacturing and quality teams to support efficient and reliable production processes, addressing design-to-production challenges
Assist in preparing test plans, reports and Product Engineering documentation
Work with suppliers of electrical components and compliance agencies to support product safety, reliability, and performance reviews
Ensure designs meet compliance standards (e.g., UL, DSA, FCC, DOE) through collaboration with third-party labs and internal teams
Provide technical expertise to support compliance activities, ensuring accurate documentation and minimal disruption
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of electrical engineers, compliance specialists, and lab technicians
Actively participate in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting, applying a hands-on approach to problem-solving
Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering, manufacturing and product development teams
Occasional travel required

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent
Hands-on experience in consumer product development, with expertise in prototyping, NPI, and compliance
Proficiency in electrical controls, schematics, and component specification for consumer products
Knowledge of compliance standards (UL, CSA, FCC) and regulatory frameworks
Experience with cross-functional collaboration in design, engineering, and manufacturing
Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
