Responsibilities

Reviewing driveway permits, encroachments, road additions, and road abandonments
Assisting with the development of secondary road construction programs, including surveying, permitting, funding coordination, and utility coordination
Conducting technical studies and projects
Preparing technical letters and reports
Attending planning and zoning meetings
Providing DOT-related comments to developers
Budgeting
Preparing preliminary construction estimates for alternative highway designs
Developing layouts for interchanges, roadway typical sections, and grades
Computing horizontal design elements such as curves, spirals, alignment offsets, and roadway transitions
Contributing to the development of thoroughfare plans for municipalities, counties, and planning regions
Performing roadway and highway systems studies
Preparing recommendations with supporting analysis for transportation projects
Evaluating field data and incorporating results into transportation studies
Reviewing contract plans, specifications, and agreements for accuracy
Maintaining official project records
Developing project schedules
Creating standard drawings and design details
Supporting roadway design and layout efforts
Assigning work to technicians
Providing assistance to senior engineers in the design and preparation of roadway and structure construction contracts
Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support TRC’s transportation and infrastructure projects

Required

Experience in reading and interpreting highway construction plans and contracts
Experience in directing, assisting or training of sub-ordinate employees
Experience administering contracts
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering
Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying

Preferred

Prefer a Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
