Salem Public Schools is forming an Innovation Advisory Committee to contribute to the development of the district's 2026-2029 Strategic Innovation Plan. The committee will meet regularly to generate ideas, review stakeholder feedback, and provide input on the plan, although it will not serve as a decision-making body.

Responsibilities

Participate in group learning to collectively understand and define 'innovation' for the Salem Public Schools at all levels

Support the design of stakeholder engagement to inform the district strategic plan and innovation agenda

Review and discuss stakeholder feedback collected in multiple ways, including a collaboratively designed community survey, an open 'Design Day,' and targeted focus groups

Consult with their networks or community to gather additional input or questions that can be shared at or between meetings

Provide input and feedback, and pose questions on the draft plan as it is developed

Required

Experience in education or related fields

Current position that reflects the varying needs and interests of the community

Ability to participate in group learning to collectively understand and define 'innovation' for the Salem Public Schools at all levels

Commitment to attend scheduled meetings regularly

Willingness to review meeting materials ahead of time

Ability to share ideas, ask questions, and provide feedback

Capacity to keep confidential any sensitive information shared in or between meetings

Ability to offer insights based on research, expertise, and experience

Willingness to share connections, resources, or opportunities when appropriate

Ability to act as an ambassador for the committee's work in the community

Preferred

Diverse representation from various roles including principals, school committee members, parents, students, teachers, SPS Central Office representatives, higher education representatives, and business community members
