Responsibilities

Develop and review fire protection system designs in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G

Perform hydraulic calculations and analyses for fire protection systems

Ensure all designs and installations comply with OPNAVINST 11320.23G, NFPA standards, and other relevant fire protection codes

Stay updated on changes in fire protection regulations and codes

Collaborate with project teams to integrate fire protection systems into overall project plans for Navy infrastructure and buildings

Provide technical support and guidance during the installation and commissioning phases

Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and drawings in compliance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G

Maintain accurate records of all fire protection system designs and modifications

Offer expert advice on fire protection strategies and solutions to internal and external stakeholders, including Navy personnel

Develop and deliver training programs for Navy personnel on fire safety and protection in accordance with OPNAVINST 11320.23G

Required

Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection

Degree in Fire Protection Engineering

Minimum of 7 years of experience in fire protection engineering

Strong understanding of fire protection codes and standards, including OPNAVINST 11320.23G

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred

Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software

Knowledge of hydraulic modeling software (e.g., Hydraflow, FlowMaster)

Previous experience in a similar role within the Navy or supporting Navy infrastructure and buildings
