Responsibilities

Research, specify, design, code, and test firmware for new products
Existing product repair and enhancement resulting from customer feedback or other issues
Creation of tools to assist in performing main duties (testing, debugging, programming, etc.)
Lead in component and/or solution design, development, documentation, and validation
Work on agile development teams, collaborating with multiple cross-discipline architecture teams to develop hardware and software components as part of L+G Smart Grid solutions
Participate in recruitment, development and mentoring of junior engineers
Lead functional area-specific continuous improvement initiatives
Lead in innovative technology and solutions development and/or validation
Willingness to travel internationally

Required

Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies firmware
Troubleshoots code for firmware (IC embedded code) applications
Knowledge of and exposure to hardware design
Typically, programs in assembly language and high-level languages
Handles complicated R&D hardware, firmware, software, and completes solutions projects as part of a cross-functional team
Collaborates with Product Management, Project management and other R&D teams in design, development, and validation of complete Smart Grid solutions
Collaborates with SMEs and business partners on component and system design
Research, specify, design, code, and test firmware for new products

Responsible for signing off all project schedules, cost estimates, product cost targets, and technical design authority
Design of full lifecycle of Electronics systems
Customer interaction
Experience of working with flow measurement
Experience of product development for high volume manufacture
Understanding of Product Development Processes
Team membership
Effective communication within team and business stakeholders
Experience within a multi-national/cultural environment
Proficiency with development processes, tools, and related frameworks
Proficiency with relevant development and/or validation methodologies
Deep knowledge of AMI and Smart Grid Systems and Solutions
Advanced design, development, or validation skills in functional area
Strong technical skillset related to functional area
Good written and oral communication
Creative problem solving
Ability to understand data effectively to solve problems and support ideas
Ability to design, breakdown, and complete a project of a large scope with high-level productivity
Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in electronics design and development

Preferred

Master's degree preferred
Experience with gas metering or within the gas utility industry is highly preferred
