Sustainment Engineer Sr
Lockheed Martin is a leading aerospace company, and they are seeking a Sustainment Engineer for the Target Sight Systems (TSS) within the Obsolescence Management team. The role involves managing the end-to-end obsolescence program, translating customer requirements into mitigation strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the lifecycle readiness of the TSS product line.

Responsibilities
Systematically identify, assess and mitigate component obsolescence risks across the TSS system
Define DMSMS thresholds, evaluate related risks, and drive analysis to select cost effective mitigation pathways
Build and maintain models tracking historical failure rates, parts consumption, obsolescence trends and Last Time Buy (LTB) needs
Create clear visual forecasts of obsolescence and sustainment to illustrate lifecycle risks for subsystems and components
Partner with cross functional groups to devise solutions for End of Life (EOL) parts, minimizing production and sustainment disruption
Analyze “life of need” data—failure rates, performance periods, subsystem longevity—to support production and sustainment stakeholders
Communicate case status, issues and recommendations to management and customers through reports, engineering change requests and presentations
Provide training and expert advice on system design, specifications and logistics to customers and internal teams
Travel as required to support customers, field sites and partner facilities
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S. citizen
Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
Experience in obsolescence management
Strong analytical skills
Experience in logistics and sustainment planning
Ability to communicate effectively with management and customers
Experience in system design and specifications
Ability to travel as required
Preferred
Experience with Target Sight Systems (TSS)
Experience in risk assessment and mitigation strategies
Experience in building and maintaining models for tracking failure rates and obsolescence trends
Experience in creating visual forecasts of obsolescence and sustainment
Experience in partnering with cross-functional groups
