Data Intern
IAP2 USA is an organization focused on planning and community engagement, and they are seeking a Data Intern to assist with data analysis and research related to regional planning. The intern will work with the Data and Planning staff to synthesize research and support the evaluation of regional policies and practices.

Responsibilities
Apply common statistical concepts and data analysis techniques
Use common software packages to analyze and transform data, such as Excel and relational database packages (e.g., Access, SQL Server, MySQL), ArcGIS, and Tableau
Collect, analyze, and perform quality control measures on large datasets
Assist with research projects for regional planning studies related to growth management and transportation planning topics, including land use, housing, transportation services and infrastructure, and economic development
Qualification
Required

Collect, analyze, and perform quality control measures on large datasets
Assist with research projects for regional planning studies related to growth management and transportation planning topics, including land use, housing, transportation services and infrastructure, and economic development
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Effective oral and written communication abilities to work with professionals, and agency staff
Interest in the local and regional planning context in the central Puget Sound region
Be a current student in a relevant field such as urban planning, geography, data science, public administration, transportation engineering, or relate field
At least one-year experience in urban planning, urban data analytics, and/or related field
Any combination of lived experience or education experience in a related field that would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability required to perform the job
Preferred
Familiarity with SQL, R Python, Git, or JavaScript programming languages and web mapping, ArcGIS Online, OpenStreet Map, and web-based visualization packages
Familiarity with commonly used demographic, land use, and other planning datasets
