Material Techinician

High Country Industrial Corp is a manufacturing company seeking a Material Technician. This role is responsible for inspection, maintenance, and inventory control of fixture stands and clamps, as well as managing materials reception and preparation while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Consistent punctuality, minimal absenteeism and dependability in completing assignments
Maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with Management and other staff members
Maintaining company tools, equipment, and vehicles
Review the production schedule every week to anticipate and plan the material stocking process for the following week(s) to ensure goods are pulled from designated locations and staged in advance
Identify and sort various materials and hardware for inventory and shipping
Load and unload trucks with equipment and hardware ensuring correct types and quantities are present and accounted for
Prepare and organize different material sizes and types for varying models
Sort equipment by model, capacity, and status. Identify and label with accurate real time information
Create a real-time safety plan for materials movement before moving to the work cells and staging area. If the build requires significant motion, coordinate support prior to starting the build
Inspect and record equipment to identify defects and needed repairs
Repair equipment to manufacturer specifications
Replace all damaged or missing parts and stock toolboxes with spare parts
Responsible for the management and conduction of the Kanban system, ensuring accurate counts, cycle times, and usage rates
Monitor stocking levels at pull points and all storage locations, communicating replenishment needs to Foreman and Operations Manager on a consistent basis
Drive purchase requests with Foreman on quantities and levels when reorder set points are reached
Document and report feedback from the production floor on vendor quality related to materials and parts
Collaborate with Foreman to manage operational equipment maintenance records to internal and ISO standards
Review, build, and implement maintenance schedules per equipment used; per schedule apply mechanical skills to troubleshoot and 'fix' operational equipment
Understand, apply, and sustain the '5S' methodology to drive material organization improvements and efficiency regarding material and consumable storage
Frequently review the material handling workflow to ensure that all obstacles are removed or minimized to optimize efficiency and work quality
Remove unnecessary parts, materials and consumables that do not affect the quality of production practices
Keep the work area organized, labeled, and 'set' so all materials, parts, tools, etc. can be accessed easily
Clean the inventory storage areas daily and/or between each work order to ensure equipment does not deteriorate or become damaged
Continuously look to standardize practices and methods to be the most efficient during work order production
Required to collaborate with production staff and other team members to drive efficiency in production
Work as a team to coordinate workflow to accomplish daily goals and objectives
Ensure that daily production status, concerns and issues are communicated directly to the Foreman
Help and support all members of the organization to drive teamwork and to ensure workload is balanced as a team
Maintain and improve work process flows and processes to drive for zero quality issues and time reduction for production
Partner with the production employees to improve the production process on a frequent basis
Participate in work cell improvement initiatives and improvements to reduce cycle time and to improve safety and quality

Required

Knowledge of reading blueprints, drawings, specifications, and other prints
Basic math knowledge, problem solving
High school diploma or equivalent
Written and verbal communication skills
Lean practice or exposure of concepts
Maximum lifting of up to 75 pounds with frequent lifting of weights up to 50 pounds
Typically standing and walking for 6 hours out of an 8-hour day
