The role involves leading the design of robot hands and collaborating with students, faculty, and staff on HAND ERC sponsored research.

Responsibilities
Serve as the lead mechanical engineer on the design of robot hands, in collaboration with students, faculty, and staff of the HAND ERC
Other duties such as research, communication, team-building, industry collaboration, and other duties as assigned by the HAND ERC leadership
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
2+ years experience and BS in mechanical engineering or a related field
significant experience in mechanical design and practical robot system development
CAD
selection of mechanical components and materials
machining and mechanical prototyping, including rapid prototyping
design of complete mechanical systems, including GD&T, stress analysis, and heat dissipation
manufacturing processes and working with external job shops
Preferred
electromechanical design, including actuator, transmission, and sensor selection
electronics and PCB design
real-time control and filtering
embedded computing
fluency in C, C++, Python, and MATLAB
familiarity with the Robot Operating System (ROS)
