Responsibilities
Acts as the contact person for ultrasound technologists
Performs diagnostic procedures applying prescribed methods of ultrasound technique
Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns
Ensures ultrasound-related supply levels are always adequate
Reports any equipment failures to the concerned department(s)
Prioritizes and disseminates tasks to others, trains staff in established and new procedures, ensures clinical staff competency and protocol, coordinates employee time off requests with operational needs and resolves departmental operational problems
Participates in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures related to ultrasound
Coordinates patient flow and expedites patient care by coordinating workflow within the department, problem solving and adapting staff schedules for volumes of the day
Maintains the daily staff schedule for all positions, coordinating coverage for vacations, sick time, etc
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Experience in managing diagnostic imaging staff
Ability to perform diagnostic procedures using ultrasound techniques
Strong communication skills to explain procedures to patients and address their concerns
Knowledge of ultrasound-related supply management
Ability to report equipment failures to the appropriate departments
Experience in prioritizing and disseminating tasks to staff
Training experience for staff in established and new procedures
Ability to ensure clinical staff competency and adherence to protocols
Experience in coordinating employee time off requests with operational needs
Problem-solving skills to resolve departmental operational issues
Experience in formulating and implementing policies and procedures related to ultrasound
Ability to coordinate patient flow and expedite patient care
Experience in maintaining daily staff schedules and coordinating coverage
