Entry-Level Highway Design Civil Engineer

Responsibilities
Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer
Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision
Design of roadway geometry, traffic control, signing and pavement markings
Utility coordination support
Computer Aided Design production
Calculation of quantities and cost estimates
Assists in the preparation of technical reports and memoranda
Participates in field visits and site inspections to gather data and assess project conditions
Contributes to the development of environmental impact assessments and mitigation strategies
Assists in the preparation of permit applications and regulatory compliance documents
Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to integrate various aspects of highway design projects
Supports the development of project schedules and helps monitor project progress
Participates in client meetings and presentations under the guidance of senior engineers
Assists in the review of contractor submittals and RFIs (Requests for Information)
Contributes to the development of construction specifications and contract documents
Supports quality control processes by checking calculations and drawings produced by team members
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience
Participating in an academic track with focus in transportation, highways, roadways, traffic and/or pavement design
Preferred
Pursuing degree from an ABET-accredited institution
Demonstrate effective time management, task prioritization, and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work productively in a team environment
Professionalism in verbal and written communications
Ability to adapt to shifting priorities/work schedules
Proficient in MS Office Suite
NCEES FE (any state)
Technical experience preferred in MicroStation & AutoCAD, Bentley OpenRoads, and/or InRoads, Autodesk Civil 3D
Prior relevant internship experience is a plus
Receptive to comments and direction provided by others
Valid U.S. Driver's License preferred to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices when public transportation is not available
