Payroll Tax Manager
Consolidated Human Resources - CHR is seeking a Payroll Tax Manager who will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations within the PEO/ASO industry. The role involves verifying the accuracy and timeliness of payroll tax functions, preparing tax documents, and resolving discrepancies while staying updated on tax law changes.

Responsibilities
Prepares or reviews a variety of tax related documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations
Performs tax reconciliations and determines liability for accounts, divisions, or business units
Assists in the preparation and distribution of tax forms
Answers questions and research discrepancies
Research, interpret, and understand existing or revised tax codes, laws, or forms
Modifies work procedures to reflect changes in tax law or code
Notify leadership of regulatory updates and propose and implement required changes
Resolve escalated issues with clients or internal departments
Works with outside services to make and monitor tax deposits
Monitors and certifies all filings of returns on quarterly and annual basis. Handles annual W2 balancing and coordinates with outside service the printing and mailing of W2s
Qualification
Required
A thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll tax and the regulatory environment, which includes federal, multi-state, and local tax regulations
The ability to read, understand, and analyze highly complex regulatory payroll tax information
Interpret and analyze complex data, make determinations free from immediate direction, and ensure that payroll taxes are appropriately processed
Work with Payroll and Implementation teams to ensure proper setup and use of payroll taxes
The ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and adapt to fast-paced environment
Advanced skills in Excel
Understanding of database reporting
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and possess strong customer service skills
Ability to lead an outside service team and supervise complex projects
Minimum of three years Payroll Tax experience
PEO or related industry experience required
Hands-on tax return processing experience is required
Knowledge of multi-state payroll, federal, state and local wage laws required
MasterTax and Prism/HRP experience required
Certified Payroll Professional
Preferred
Experience in multi-state tax environment preferred
