Senior Project Engineer

They are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer to manage and lead multi-site projects aimed at improving processes, quality, and cost across their Supply Chain.

Responsibilities
Act as project manager for strategic sourcing, product redesign and process improvement projects
Organize, develop, and execute project timelines and deliverables
Present and manage product and process change proposals
Develop, revise, approve specifications for parts/products
Conduct trials and tests to support the approval of products and processes
Develop and gain approval for funding requests
Manage capital projects and budgets
Identify opportunities for improvements in products and/or processes
Lead the financial analysis and feasibility studies of proposed changes
Organize and lead benchmarking opportunities and idea generation events
Execute principals of design and engineering philosophies
Read, analyze, and develop part prints
Act as technical expert for design criteria
Assure system and product quality by designing and executing testing methods
Collect and interpret data through research and measurement
Lead and participate in CI events and other Lean initiatives company wide
Follow and Tech Lean principles and practices
Perform supplier audits and aid with quality issue resolution

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in engineering or related field
Minimum of 5 years related engineering experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with an emphasis in project management, product design, or similar engineering disciplines
Preferred
Ability to work independently and solve problems
Strong analytical, organizational, strategic thinking and decision-making skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization and across functional groups
Ability to multi-task and manage many responsibilities and projects at one time
Passion for learning and continuous improvement
Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Ability to use 3D CAD software
Three or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required
Practical application of Lean manufacturing techniques such as JIT, material flow, and waste elimination required
Proficiency with LEAN principles and problem-solving techniques including value stream mapping, A3's, 5S, 3P, time observations and standardization, glass walls, and policy deployment required
Functional knowledge of FMEA process preferred
Familiarity with Six Sigma and/or principles in statistical control preferred
Knowledge of JD Edwards or similar ERP system preferred
Metal fabrication / industry knowledge required
Wood processing / fabrication / industry knowledge required
