Responsibilities
Teach a range of statistics courses, including service courses, upper-division electives, and graduate-level courses
Engage in quality scholarship as evidenced by external validation
Contribute service at all levels of the University, including department, college, university, and professional service
Mentor graduate students and advise thesis research
Develop new courses in the candidate’s area of specialty
Participate in scholarly practices such as peer-reviewed research, conference presentations, and grant development that leads to publication
Pursue a systematic program of research and scholarship, curricular improvement, and participate in service activities including committee service, student advising, and building industry relationships
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Statistics or a closely related field
Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning
Demonstrated ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings
Evidence of (or potential for) high quality teaching and research with students
Evidence of (or potential for) scholarly productivity
Must provide evidence of (or potential for) promoting the well-being and advancement of students, colleagues, and the department
Ability to work with a diverse population fostering a respectful, collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment
Preferred
Experience and commitment to excellence in teaching statistics at the university level
Expertise in an area compatible with or broadening the research activities of the department
Experience with data science or other cross-disciplinary collaboration
Experience supervising student research
