Outside Sales Engineer - North Dakota & South Dakota

Responsibilities

Identify and pursue new business opportunities within assigned territory or industry
Conduct in-person sales calls, presentations, and product demonstrations to prospective clients
Develop and maintain strong principal and customer relationships to drive loyalty and repeat business
Meet or exceed sales targets and performance metrics
Manage an assigned sales territory with regular travel to client sites
Plan and execute daily/weekly schedules for prospecting and follow-ups
Maintain a pipeline of active opportunities using CRM tools
Collaborate with principals and internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and resolve issues
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitors
Maintain in-depth knowledge of product lines, pricing, and promotions
Provide feedback from the field to help improve offerings and sales strategies
Accurately document all sales activities in the CRM system
Prepare regular reports on sales performance and territory updates
Attend sales meetings and training sessions
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
2–5 years of outside sales experience, preferably industrial B2B
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
Strong technical aptitude in industrial and process-driven environments and ability to understand, present, and troubleshoot complex products or systems
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Self-motivated and results-driven with excellent time management skills
Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain long-term customer relationships
Solid presentation and negotiation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho)
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Willingness to travel frequently within assigned territory (up to 25% overnight travel may be required)
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, depending on product type
Flexible work hours based on client needs and travel schedule

Preferred

bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
