Senior Turbomachinery Engineer

Relativity Space is building rockets to meet today's needs and tomorrow's breakthroughs. The Turbomachinery Engineer will develop assemblies for the fuel and oxidizer turbopumps of the Aeon-R engine family, collaborating with various teams to drive projects to completion and tackle challenging issues unique to rocket turbopumps.

Responsibilities

Develop the assemblies for the fuel and oxidizer turbopumps of the Aeon-R engine family
Collaborate closely with the propulsion development and manufacturing teams to incorporate improvements into future designs

Qualification

Turbomachinery developmentFluid analysisStructural analysisBladed CFDTurbopump assembly proceduresSiemens NXExperience in aerospaceAgile development environmentCommunication skills

Required

Bachelor's degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field
5+ years of relevant experience, preferably with turbomachinery systems
Experience overseeing turbomachinery development and/or test campaigns
Ability to perform basic structural, thermal, and/or fluid analysis
Experience performing turbomachinery analyses (bladed CFD, structural, modal, rotordynamics)
Knowledge of industry standard turbomachinery design and analysis
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of turbopump assembly procedures, including rotor balancing, interference fits, clearance checks, structural proofing, and leak checks

Preferred

Experience designing bladed turbopump components (inducers, impellers, turbines)
Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter
Experience in a startup or agile development environment
Experience working in a flight development program
